Pediatric Immunization Counseling

Pediatric immunization consultations are for families who may be seeing a pediatrician but desire more information about making informed choices about immunizations for their child.  As a parent, it is difficult to compile all the information available when deciding about immunizations for your child.  We will spend an hour discussing the pros and cons of each of the immunizations available as well as different immunization schedules.  You will be given a handout, outlining each immunization for future reference.  Please note, if you are using Dr. Amy for your pediatric care, immunization options will be discussed during your well-child visits.

Children's  Food Allergies Could Food be Aggravating Your Child's Health?

Dr. Amy specializes in working with children with hidden food allergies that could be affecting your child's mood, behavior or health. Sometimes a seemingly healthy food can lead to a sensitivity or allergic reaction that can lead to inflammation, that can affect a multitude of health dimensions in a child.  It may not be severe or immediate, as say a peanut allergy, but there can be non life threatening low-grade allergies that can affect a child's day-to-day functioning.

Some examples of manifestations of this are as follows:

  • Hyperactivity ADD/ADHD
  • Moodiness
  • Skin reactions: eczema, rashes
  • Respiratory Disorders: asthma
  • Congestion/Sinusitis
  • Digestive Difficulties
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Joint Pain
  • Puffiness around the eyes
This test looks at a different type of allergic reaction from the conventional skin prick test, and is also more comprehensive. It tests for 96 common foods with just a few drops of blood required.
