Navigating the holidays with a newborn

Navigating the holidays with a new baby can be hard. Just the schedules alone can feel stressful. But more than that, the holidays fall into the season of viruses spreading around like crazy, especially this year.

What can you do to help protect your little one? If you are spending time with extended family or friends this year for the holidays, we have some great tips!

ASK IF ANYONE IS UNWELL: Before making the trip, be sure to call ahead and ask if anyone is unwell. Even if someone has a slight cold, it probably is not a good idea to expose your baby. Slight colds can present themselves very differently in a small baby.

WASH HANDS/HAND SANITIZER: Before anyone holds your baby, ask them to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer (you can even bring your own for people).

PEOPLE DON’T HAVE TO HOLD THE BABY: You can definitely attend your holiday event and tell people that they can’t hold the baby. One trick is to bring your baby carrier and just wear your baby the majority of the time!

KEEP YOURSELF HEALTHY: Try and get extra rest, take your vitamins, eat healthy + minimize sweets. You want your immune system to be as strong as possible!
